"About the other day…"
The conversation stalls, and the person who paid is left waiting.
Split bills with friends
Chill Bill keeps track of who paid for what, scans receipts, and shows who needs to transfer to whom. Spend time together without keeping a running tally in your head.
Why we made it
Asking a friend to pay you back can be awkward. Chill Bill keeps the numbers in view, so everyone can settle up without you having to chase them.
The conversation stalls, and the person who paid is left waiting.
One receipt is easy. Remembering all of them three days later is harder.
The friend with the easiest card becomes the unofficial treasurer.
How it works
Everyone sees the same figures, without a spreadsheet or a payment reminder in the group chat.
Scan the receipt or enter the total. Choose who shared each item. The model reads the receipt; the app calculates the split and you check it before saving.
Everyone can see their balance at any time. Together, the balances always add up to zero.
Chill Bill finds a short list of transfers and shows which debts each one covers. The sender marks a payment sent, and the recipient confirms it.
Pay through your own bank and keep talking in your WhatsApp group. Chill Bill prepares a message that says who pays whom and which debts it covers. When everyone is even, share Bill’s sticker.
Nothing is sent until you choose to share it. Chill Bill does not read your chats or have access to WhatsApp.

How the numbers work
A restaurant bill in Indonesia can include service charge and local restaurant tax (PB1 / PBJT). Here is how they add up.
Under Indonesia’s HKPD Law No. 1 of 2022, food and drinks at restaurants and cafés are subject to local PBJT tax of up to 10%, rather than national VAT.
A restaurant may add a service charge of 5% to 10%. The 10% PB1 tax is calculated on item subtotal plus service charge.
Receipt total = (subtotal + service) × 1.10
You ordered iced tea for Rp 10.000 and a friend ordered steak for Rp 200.000. An equal split of tax and service would charge you for part of the steak. Chill Bill allocates the extra charges proportionally by item:
| Item & person | Item price | Service (5%) | PB1 (10%) | Total paid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iced tea (you) | Rp 10.000 | Rp 500 | Rp 1.050 | Rp 11.550 |
| Steak Wagyu (friend) | Rp 200.000 | Rp 10.000 | Rp 21.000 | Rp 231.000 |
| Bill total | Rp 210.000 | Rp 10.500 | Rp 22.050 | Rp 242.550 |
*When you scan a receipt, Chill Bill allocates each person’s share and distributes leftover rupiah from rounding deterministically (ADR-0043).
