Delete Account
How to leave, and what gets deleted.
Effective 12 October 2026
Translated from the Indonesian version.
This page is for the Chill Bill app (id.biz.chillbill.app), and anyone can open it without signing in. It describes exactly what the button inside the app does.
1. The quickest way: from inside the app
- Open Chill Bill, then Profile.
- Tap Delete account in the bottom row.
- Read what appears, then confirm.
Deletion takes effect at once. When it finishes, the app goes back to its no-account state. Groups you joined stay open as usual; groups you created are released from your phone (see section 3).
2. If you cannot sign in
Lost the phone, or the Google account no longer works? Email halo@chillbill.biz.id from your account's email address, with the subject "Delete account". The sender address is the proof, so we will not ask for anything else. We complete it within 30 days, usually much sooner.
3. What is deleted
Everything about you as a person:
- The account itself: the name and email address that came from Google.
- Your profile photo, if you ever set one.
- The link to your Google account, so there is no longer any way to sign in to that account.
- Every sign-in session still active, on any phone.
- Your Plus plan, including whatever time is left on it.
- Payment order history: the order number, amount, time and status.
- The link between your account and your names in each group.
- A group you created that nobody else ever joined. That group is only your own record, so we delete all of it from the server.
- Your phone's access to groups you created yourself. The group stays for the other members, but your phone can no longer write to it. Groups you joined through an invite link are not affected, because that access comes from the link, not from your account.
This is permanent. There is no recycle bin, no waiting period, and we cannot bring it back.
4. What remains, and why
Records inside groups shared with other people are not deleted: the expenses you recorded, the name you used in that group, and your share of each receipt.
The reason: those records are not only yours. A receipt you paid for five people is evidence of what they owe as well. If it vanished when you left, four other people's figures would change without their agreement, and that would delete other people's data.
Copies of the group on other members' phones remain too, because those are their copies. If you want to remove a group from your own phone, that is in Profile › Data & backup › Delete from this phone, and you can do it at any time, separately from deleting your account.
5. How long until it is really gone
- From the database: at once, in one transaction.
- From daily backups: 15 days at most. Backups are kept for 14 days and then deleted automatically, and we do not open old backups to edit them.
- By email: 30 days at most from when the email arrives.
6. If you never created an account
There is nothing to delete on our side. A group created without an account never leaves that phone, so we have no copy of it. Clearing site data in the browser, or uninstalling the app, already deletes everything.
7. Get your data first
Before deleting, you can download all your data as one JSON file in Profile › Data & backup. It is free, needs no subscription and has no limit. Once the account is deleted, that route closes too.
